Foster Care Fall Festival
OCTOBER 3, 2017
We look forward to welcoming you to our brand new Foster Care Village for a fun, festival-like event, proceeds of which will benefit this newest EHSC program. See our beautiful new facility and visit with residents. Located on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) in West Charlotte, the Village is the first such residential facility for young men on a university campus in North Carolina and among the first in the U.S.
The program offers 31 young men ages 18 – 21 who have grown up in foster care the resources and support needed as they transition to independent and responsible adulthood. In addition to providing housing services in the foster care youth village, EHSC coordinates GED classes, secondary education or vocational education depending upon the needs and interests of each resident in cooperation with JCSU’s School of Social Work, Metropolitan College, and a host of community partners.
Life skills education, job training and employment placement services also will be available. Residents will be required to pursue their education and/or participate in a job training program or employment in local businesses to remain eligible to reside at the village.
